Christantus Uche Ignites Comfortable Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Without key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further three points in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the last 16, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Grasp the Moment

This occasion offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

The Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season proved no match against a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Control Established from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the official waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had hit the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Wraps Up the Contest

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
