Two Arrests Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident caused the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
